The Senate passed a bipartisan measure to reopen the federal government, ending a record-long shutdown that has impacted paychecks, closed museums and disrupted travel. But the bill won’t clear the House without support from Democratic members, who are divided on how to resolve the impasse. Speaker Mike Johnson held a conference call with his members Monday morning and laid out a potential timetable for votes this week, according to four people briefed on the conversation. Johnson said he’s hoping to have the House vote on the Senate deal as early as Wednesday after swearing in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz., who won her special election Sept. 23, sources said. They added that he’d like to have the Senate vote this week if possible given air travel delays and the length of the shutdown.
